Residents of Pierce and Afton townships used a County Board meeting to oppose Burr Oak Solar, a proposed 300-megawatt facility on 1,984 acres. One resident said panels would surround her home. Another said it would “surround our property on three sides.”

The developer described the project as a major capital investment in the county.

“It will not grow anything, it will not feed anyone, it will not preserve the character of our community,” (Afton Township resident John Aspinwall, via Shaw Local)
