The Illinois Land and Farmland Preservation Coalition (“the Coalition,” “we,” “us”) runs illinoisfarmlandpreservation.com. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
Information We Collect
When you sign up through our “Join the Coalition” form, we collect:
- First and last name
- Email address
- Mobile phone number (optional)
- ZIP code
- County
- Whether you’ve checked the box to receive text message updates
When you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message.
When you visit the site, our website software and analytics tools may automatically collect technical information such as:
- IP address
- Browser type
- Pages visited
- Referring site
- Cookies
We use Google Site Kit (Google Analytics) to understand site traffic. Our form uses Akismet, a spam-filtering service, to screen submissions.
How We Use Your Information
- To send you updates about solar projects, public hearings, court cases, legislation and ways to take action
- To send text messages, only if you opted in
- To organize members by county so alerts are relevant to you
- To respond to your messages and project reports
- To protect the site from spam and abuse
- To meet legal obligations
Text Messages (SMS)
- Opting in: if you check the text-updates box, you agree to receive recurring text messages from the Coalition at the mobile number you provided. Consent isn’t required to join.
- Frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.
- Opting out: reply STOP to any message to stop getting texts. Reply HELP for help, or email info@illinoisfarmlandpreservation.com.
- Phone numbers: we don’t sell or share your mobile number or text opt-in consent with third parties for their own marketing.
Every email from us includes an unsubscribe link. You can also unsubscribe by emailing info@illinoisfarmlandpreservation.com.
We Do Not Sell Your Information
We don’t sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only with:
- Service providers that help us operate, such as website hosting, email and text-messaging platforms, and spam filtering. They may use it only to provide those services to us.
- Authorities, when required by law, such as in response to a valid legal process.
Contributions
If you ever make a contribution to the Coalition, the information Illinois campaign finance law requires may be reported to the Illinois State Board of Elections and become public. Signing up for updates isn’t a contribution.
Data Security and Retention
We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information. No website or transmission is completely secure. We keep your information while you’re subscribed, or as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law.
Your Choices
You can ask us to:
- show you the information we hold about you
- correct it
- delete it
