Whiteside County Settles Solar Lawsuit, Grants Permit It Denied Twice

After twice denying a 5-megawatt, 40-acre solar farm near Morrison, the Whiteside County Board voted on advice of counsel to settle the developer's lawsuit and grant the permit.

After twice denying a 5-megawatt, 40-acre solar farm near Morrison, the Whiteside County Board voted on advice of counsel to settle the developer’s lawsuit and grant the permit.

The suit argued the board had applied rules more restrictive than state law allows. It relied on the 2023 law’s requirement that compliant applications “shall be approved.”
