The full Grundy County Board has approved a special use petition for a new solar farm in the 5700 block of Whitetie Road, which the county’s Land Use Committee had advanced 4-2 (see our earlier post). Development Director Alec Macdonald said the site lies within a mile and a half of the Carbon Hill and Coal City city limits, and that the Zoning Board of Appeals tabled the project when it first heard it in August. The farmer who owns the land spoke to the board during public comment.

The vote was 7-5. Josh Harris, Joe Plese, James Riley, Harold Vota, Georgette Vota, Doug Ferro and Matt Cosenza voted yes; Joe and Laura Schiavone, Debra Warning, Nathanial Greene and Jeff Wynn voted no. Six board members were not at the meeting.
