The McHenry County Board voted 11–7 to approve five solar projects it had previously denied, one day before a court-ordered deadline. County attorneys had warned members they could risk contempt of court if they refused.

Several residents urged the board not to approve the projects. One member who voted no said the state had denied county residents representation.

“My vote has been co-opted by Springfield and the courts, but I will be voting no,” (McHenry County Board member Terri Greeno, via Shaw Local)
